RE Lee Memorial Episcopal Church

November 20, 2006

Opening:
Melissa Cox called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.

Worship:
Daniel Brinson opened the meeting with a hymn. Roger Crockett

Minutes:
Melissa Cox asked for approval of the minutes from the October meeting. The motion to accept was approved without dissent.

Diocesan Budget Representative:
Susan Peyton, member of the Diocesan Executive Board, outlined the proposed giving plan for parishes as they determine the amount they will pledge to the Diocese annually.  Delegates to the 2007 Council will vote on acceptance of this proposal.

Stewardship Committee
John Milford reported on the Every Member Canvass.  Of the 132 pledge cards that have been returned, the pledged amount to date is $265,056. This reflects an average of $2,000 per pledge. The target goal is $385,539 which is 18% over last year.

Finance Committee
Jonathan Webster distributed a proposed Purchase Authorization form. The committee suggested that we utilize the form on a trial basis. This will give a paper trail which will help Anita in her bill paying.

Endowments and Investments Committee
Bob Glidden circulated a report on our investments and distribution of proceeds.

Gadsden Endowments Committee
Roger Crockett reported that one of the members of the committee, Beth Hart, a vestry appointed member is ending her term. The Vestry needs to appoint a replacement.
Melissa suggested that Roger collect nominations from the Vestry by e-mail and that we vote for the nominees by e-mail by 11/27.

Search Committee
Jonathan Webster circulated by e-mail a suggested Vestry charge to the committee.  (Discussion followed)It was agreed that Jonathan make the suggested changes and circulate his re-written draft by e-mail.

Christian Outreach
MJ Mayerchak announced that our parish, under the leadership of Betty Bentley, has collected 50,000 Campbell’s product labels to be used for educational materials for the Boys’ Home.

Executive Session
A motion was made and seconded that we go into Executive Session.
A motion was moved and seconded that we come out of Executive Session.

Roger Crockett gave the closing prayer.
