My child, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments;
for length of days and years of life
and abundant welfare they will give you.

Proverbs 3:1-2

Sunday Mornings

The nursery provides a loving, nurturing environment for infants and toddlers starting at 9:00am and continuing through the 10:30 am service.

Sunday School, 9:30 to 10:15 am (September-May)
(for ages 3 to high school)

The Sunday School curriculum for children is Weaving God’s Promises. Weaving God’s Promises is a three-year Christian education program for children ages 3 (preschool) to 11-12 (5th-6th grade). The curriculum was developed and written exclusively for the Episcopal Church. It’s titled Weaving God’s Promises after the process of faith formation in which we learn how God’s promises of salvation are inextricably woven into our lives.

The goal of Weaving God’s Promises is to teach children the way of Christ, not only in the church but also in the world, and to give them a solid grounding for future youth formation programs, which in turn will prepare them for Christian adulthood.

The Middle and High School classes use the Bible Workbenches' series, TeenText.
The lectionary-based TeenText process helps youth (grades 6-8 and grades 9-12) connect the text on the page with events in their daily lives. Through discussions guided by a series of open-ended, text-related questions, they begin to see the Bible as a vital, dynamic relevant resource--one that can inform them throughout their lives.

A year long confirmation class is available for 7th and 8th graders.

Children’s Chapel (year round)

For children ages 3 through 3rd grade

The children attend church with their parents. After the Gospel is read the children recess, led by the cross, to our Children’s Chapel where they lead an abbreviated service and learn about the meaning of liturgy and observances of the church year. After the children experience their own creative worship time they process back into the church, to join their parents for Holy Communion.

Wonderful Wednesdays, September-May

Godly Play (resumes September 21)
(ages 3 through first grade)
3:45 to 4:30 session
Godly Play provides a time and a space for children to engage with God

and with the story of God’s people in the Bible. A Godly Play session
includes a time to gather in a circle with music and singing, a time to
listen to a story, a time of wondering, and a time for children to respond
to the story through art or creative play.  Godly Play does not meet during Lent.

Junior Choir
(Second grade and up)

Wednesdays, 3:45to 4:45 rehearsal
The Junior Choir is all about the joy of singing. We learn to sing in a

healthy way, to read music, and to be leaders in our worship. Since we
are a Christian community, every rehearsal begins and ends with prayer.
The Junior Choir sings on Sunday mornings at least once a month. We
also have special events planned for the year, including the Christmas pageant.

Helping Hands: Sharing God's Love in the Neighborhood
VBS 2016

Over 80 children, helpers and adults participated in the Helping Hands: Sharing God's Love in the Neighborhood Vacation Bible School. They  learned about being part of God's beloved community by visiting the RARA Food Pantry, dusting bookshelves and helping in the Rockbridge Regional Library, helping the Community Table set up for lunch, visiting Project Horizon, delivering Meals for Shut-Ins, making goodie bags for shut-ins and
working in the Campus Kitchen garden.

Our VBS was a joint ministry of R E Lee Memorial Episcopal, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Lexington Presbyterian and Trinity United Methodist Churches.

A big thank you
goes to Lexington Presbyterian Church
for hosting us this year!
